Motene is a lifestyle presenter in the talk radio space and will be taking over SAfm Life Happens, which airs on weekdays from 13:00 to 15:00.

Acting station manager Siphelele Sixaso says, "In line with SAfm’s objective of leading the nation’s conversation, it is imperative that we strive to put the best talent on air. We felt that Phemelo is the perfect fit for our brand; she is well-versed in the radio talk show space and we strongly believe in her talent."

Motene began her radio career at Radio Metro (now Metro FM) in 1999 as a newsreader. Shortly after joining the station, she took over from Romeo Khumalo as the weekend lunchtime host before leaving to a television job two years later.

She later joined Generations, where she played the role of Khensani Moroka until her departure in 2004.
