The partnership will see Viu as the simulcast digital partner to Openview's News and Sport and will aim to provide viewers with live access to selected live Premier League games, as well as current affairs programming.

News and Sport is Openview's most recent news and sport channel. The channel strives to offer audiences in-depth reporting, analysis, current affairs segments and sports content.

As a digital partner since Saturday, 24 August, Viu is streaming live channel 120 every Saturday. Viu consumers will now have access to selected pre and post-match analysis and live Premier League games, even when they are not in front of their TVs.

Viu has 36 million monthly active users and, in the first half of 2019, the service reached 2.9 billion views globally. Since its launch in February, Viu has aimed to provide consumers with South Africa's leading local content, and the best entertainment from Bollywood, Africa and ground-breaking Korean and Pakistani dramas.

Ryan Solovei, country manager of Viu Africa, says, "This new agreement with eMedia Investments builds on the already successful partnership with e.tv. Viu's content model caters for a market that is digitally-savvy, with an interest in what's on screens locally and internationally."

"We're not just offering content to the drama and TV series market — our partnership with Openview's News and Sport will offer the country's sports fans their share of thrills, highs and lows, and all the drama from the EPL," concludes Solovei.
