The
Radio Awards has grown to become the 'Oscars of the radio industry.' It has strived to set the benchmark for all radio stations and professionals. Owned by Tiso Blackstar Group, the awards have been managed by members of the Tiso Blackstar events division since its launch in 2010.
The Radio Awards will be celebrating 10 years in support of local radio talent in 2020. Although there is a current vacancy for a naming partner, Tiso Blackstar recognises the importance of continuity and will, therefore, host the awards in April 2020.
The group says that the
Radio Awards are in line with its commitment to ensuring the successful development of the South African media industry — alongside its investments in the
MOST Awards, the
AdFocus Awards, and the
Future of Media Conference.
"We are, of course, open to organisations that would wish to come onboard through partnership," says Taryn Westoby, head of Tiso Blackstar events. "The
Radio Awards offer a return that significantly outweighs the investment and presents a unique opportunity for a brand to shine."
The 10
th iteration of the
Radio Awards is also focussed on transforming the leadership structure from a CEO position towards one that is more inclusive and representative of the radio industry, through consensus-based decision-making. As such, an advisory panel will provide input in charting the way forward.
"With the guidance of a diverse advisory panel, Tiso Blackstar events will continue to drive the success of the
Radio Awards to deliver a credible, well-judged transparent programme and the much-anticipated event that the industry raves about each year," adds Westoby.
The Radio Awards is proud to continue recognising and honouring South Africa's radio talent. In doing so, the awards say that it hopes to inspire and encourage stations to enter the 2020 awards programme.
Entries for the awards will open on Wednesday, 20 November.
