According to Jacaranda FM's marketing manager Leith Smith, "this event is a firm favourite in Gauteng and draws thousands of people from all walks of life each year for a day of family fun in the sun."

According to Smith, this decision wasn't an easy one. "We had to consider the fact that, even if lockdown restrictions were to be completely eased, the hosting of large gatherings would probably still be some way off," adds Smith.

"At this point, we have to do whatever we can to contribute to the proactive, collective effort to prevent the spread of this disease and further loss of life. Be assured, however, that Off the Beat 'n Track will return. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2021," Smith says.

Head of marketing at Tracker Charlette Roetz says, "This is definitely a highlight on Tracker's events calendar every year and we are sad that we have had to cancel the event."

"We do, however, believe that although the decision was not an easy one, it was the right decision and every effort needs to be made to help South Africa flatten the curve and prevent COVID-19 from spreading even further," adds Roetz.

"We are looking forward to an even greater event next year, with lots of families having fun and enjoying live music, family cycling and great food," Roetz says,

The organisers have assured those who have already bought tickets to this year's event, including those who ordered T-shirts, that they will be contacted and refunded as soon as possible.

Refunding enquiries can be made by contacting the race office at [email protected] or (012) 012 5205.
