Last Say on Sunday
Media 61
Last Say on Sunday is a brand-new talk show format produced for SABC3, which will be broadcast from 5 April at 21:00. This show - hosted by popular actor and comedian, Darren Maule - is a mixture of satirical commentary, real interviews and spoof correspondence with its team of “experts”.
Each week the show will open with a brief comic monologue that rounds up the week’s events and offers insightful, satirical commentary. Viewers of international shows such as The Daily Show with John Stewart and Late Night with David Letterman, Jay Leno or Conan O’Brien will be familiar with this style of introduction.
Last Say On Sunday is South Africa’s very own satirical news programme. However, besides corresponding with its team of spoof specialists and experts, Darren will also conduct interviews with the biggest news maker of the week, columnists and opinionated individuals. The show will play out with original, humorous song written by some of South Africa’s best musical talent. In line with the rest of the show, the song will be satirical, insightful and hilariously funny.
Last Say On Sunday’s correspondents are drawn from a pool of South African talent, including the likes of Dennis Becket as well as some of the greatest comic minds such as Mark Banks, David Kibuuka and Stuart Taylor who will be our various “experts”.
As the show draws on live elements, it allows the audience to interact with the host and thus also have their last say on Sunday.
Last Say on Sunday, is produced by Danie Ferreira of Urban Brew Studios, and directed by Marguerite Albrecht and head written by Mike Rands, stand up comedian and author of Praise Routine Number 4.
It is the perfect way to wrap up your week. In fact, if you’re not watching it, you should be worried: because you haven’t heard it all, until you’ve heard the Last Say on Sunday.
