Journalists are the unsung soldiers who are always first on the scene. However, this means that they often expose themselves to stressful — and even traumatic — situations to keep the public informed of what is happening in the world.

Besides the psychological strain these individuals endure to report on events every day, they also have to endure demanding work routines in which they must:
  • meet strict deadlines
  • work unpredictable hours
  • travel to news sites
  • find ways to be available when events arise, and
  • pitch and report relevant stories.

All of this undeniably takes a negative toll on their mental wellbeing.

So, how can journalists cope with all of the trauma and pressure that comes with their occupation?
