Sasha Lee wins Matrix!

Last night (Wednesday, 15 April), Idols contestant, Sasha Lee Davids, from Atlantis, Cape Town, was crowned as the winner of the MK reality show Matrix, winning R50 000 as well as a roll on the popular kykNET soap, Villa Rosa.
In the second year of this edgy show on M-Net’s trendy music channel, eight Matric girls were gathered together in the coastal town of Margate for a free holiday of fun and flirtation. The holiday was filmed in December 2008, where each day, every girl cast a secret vote for her favourite member of the house in order to finally determine the winner. With the broadcast of the show in 2009, viewers were simultaneously also able to cast their votes for their favourite ‘Matric’.
The decision came right down to the wire between two contestants last night as the ultimate result was to be determined by one last ‘house vote’ on the final evening of the girls’ holiday. The tension was incredibly high, especially since both Sasha Lee and her fellow contestant Michelle had already been awarded respective roles in Villa Rosa, based on auditions that were held during the same time as they were filming the reality show.
As each girl dramatically drew her final cross, the show’s presenter Snotkop announced Sasha Lee as the winner. Over 70 000 votes were cast for Matrix 2008.
2009 is truly turning out to be a phenomenal year for Sasha Lee, as she found herself taking part in two reality shows simultaneously this year. Fans of Sasha Lee can still vote for her as she is currently in the Top 4 of M-Net’s hit reality show, Idols. Catch Sasha performing “8th World Wonder” by Kimberly Locke and “Apologise” by One Republic on Idols on Sunday night at 17:30.
