Brass bands are more than music — they're culture in motion. And now, community and school-based bands from across the country can submit a 90-second video covering a
popular South African hit song. Think anything that encapsulates and celebrates youth through local and international songs, classics and current top charts, says the radio station.
"Brass music is real, raw, rooted and ravingly popular," says Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM. "At 5FM, we believe in championing youth voices and local sounds that connect generations. This campaign is a celebration of South African energy — our rhythm, our roots, our rockstars of brass."
The top entries will be featured live on-air and online, with a panel selecting the five that stand out from the crowd. Then, the public will have the final vote to decide who gets crowned SA's Best Brass Bosses, with the Grand Brass Finale on Friday, 25 July, adds the radio station.
5FM concludes that whether you're a band member, a proud friend or just a lover of great music and electric vibe, this is your moment to shine and spread the word using the hashtag #5FMBrassRoots.
