With hosts Zanele Potelwa and Nick Archibald, the team are set to broadcast live from some of the country's highest altitude adventures, buildings and structures — and the station's listeners are in the driving seat, says 5FM.
In 2024, the team bungee jumped from the Soweto Towers (100 m), broadcast live from the top of the 151-meter-high SABC Radio Park Building in Johannesburg and the Alto 234 Bar at The Leonardo in Sandton (234 m) and went for a high-altitude helicopter flip at Rand Airport. In 2025, 5FM gives listeners the oppurtunity to decide where they go next, adds the radio station.
Listeners are encouraged to stay tuned to the station, download the 5FM app, follow 5FM on social media and submit location ideas and daring challenges, using the hashtag '#5DriveGetsHigh', says the radio station.
The 5 Drive team will also deliver four live broadcasts from location, each one bigger and more daring than the last. 5FM is started with a live broadcast from the top of Table Mountain on Friday, 7 November, adds the radio station.
"5FM was recently voted one of the top three coolest radio stations in South Africa," concludes Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM. "Our '5 Drive Gets High' campaign is one of the tallest reasons why: we don't just play pumping tunes and feature the hottest news and wavemaker interviews, we move people, we spark experiences and we deliver live adrenaline-pumping moments and we push the limits to new heights — literally and figuratively. Listeners will not only tune in — they'll call the shots and go along for the ride."
