5FM and Connect Entertainment — the team behind Anjunadeep Open Air, Festival De Mexico, The Big Greek Festival, H2O Music Festival and The Theatre Music Festival, says that listeners can expect exciting experiences, more energy and more electric partying.
With each event, 5FM says it will be on the ground with Smash Afrika Weekends broadcasting live to "Ampli5" the vibe, with exclusive artist interviews, competitions and more.
The festival season kicks off with Anjunadeep Open Air, landing in Johannesburg on Friday, 3 April at The River Cabin, Cedar Road, Nietgedacht and Cape Town on Saturday, 4 April at The Ostrich, Philadelphia. Global performers, says the station.
Above and Beyond headline both dates, aiming to bring their celebrated Deep Sets experience to South Africa. Other acts include James Grant and Jody Wisternoff and HANA, as well as local artists like BokkieULT, Corneliu SA, Karyendasoul, Dj Buhle and Zakes Bantwini.
Next up is Festival De Mexico, returning to Montecasino Outdoor Arena on Saturday, 2 May. The event aims o promise Joburg Mexican street food vendors, tequila tastings, a piñata showdown, South Africa's hottest chilli-eating competition and a music line-up featuring 5FM's very own Kyle Cassim and DJ Speedsta, Jeremy Loops, Lloyiso, Lady Zamar, Sun-El Musician and El Cantante.
A week later, The Big Fat Greek Festival takes over Montecasino on Saturday, 9 May. Picture bouzouki beats, traditional dancing, Greek tavernas, delis, wine tastings and a cultural showcase. The entertainment line-up includes International Greek Singer Anastasia, featuring Emmanouela Zabetak, DJ Pino, Costa and Pana, Mamma Mia, ShawnyB, Traditional Greek Dancing, belly dancers, a fashion Show and Greek and Local DJs, adds the station.
H2O Music Festival returns to its home at Wild Waters, Boksburg again this summer and The Theatre Music Festival arrives in Johannesburg at the end of the year.
