Read the inspiring story of a woman who started out as a cleaner and through learning, became a counsellor. Also speak to the “Clint Eastwood” of the Cape Flats about his work as child activist.
Kuier in Styl visit your area during September with their road shows. Different artists will be performing and there are lots of prizes to be won. See details in the first issue.
Evadne Michaels, newly appointed editor of Kuier, says : ‘’When doing research, we found that there were so many Afrikaans-speaking women who were aspiring to better and empower themselves. They were hungry for a magazine that would speak specifically to them and that would cater for their needs. Kuier strives to give readers practical and realistic advice. [The] fashion; beauty; décor; and food pages will be affordable and relevant to [our] readers. We will be showing them how to achieve the look they want on a budget they can afford. We will also assist parents by providing them with advice and information on raising their kids – from toddlers to teens. We are striving to educate and inform our readers on everyday things like finance; careers; relationships; and health.’’
‘’We have researched the market extensively,’’ says Marcel Welman, Business Manager for Kuier: ‘’We tested our concept thoroughly against previous research done on the market as well as in focus groups, and the results were very positive. Our product needed to satisfy the diverse roles these women play, and the needs they have in their day-to-day lives. We’ve listened and combined all the elements our market is interested in and condensed it into one product that is inspirational; informative; and relevant to our readers. I have no doubt that Kuier will resonate with its audience and become a huge success.’’
The core areas that Kuier will be available in are the three Cape Provinces, namely the Northern; Western; and Eastern Cape. These three provinces have the highest density of Afrikaans-speaking women. There will also be distribution of this magazine in the Free State; KwaZulu-Natal; Gauteng; and certain other areas that show a high concentration of potential Afrikaans readers.
Kuier is published by Media24 Family Magazines, publishers of Huisgenoot; YOU; DRUM; tvplus; Huisgenoot-Pols; YOU Pulse; and Huisgenoot-Tempo magazines.
