New
FHM boasts 212-pages of the best in entertainment for guys.
When planning began for
FHM’s 10th birthday issue in February this year, SA’s first consumer lifestyle magazine in 3D was just a far-off and risky idea. As
FHM brand owner, UCM, experimented with various technological options in 3D rendering during the year, the company eventually decided to create its own technology to convert existing material into modern 3D.
Numerous advertisers bought into the 3D innovation and UCM Creative Solutions offered clients a 3D conversion service for existing ad material. The result is a monster 212-page new
FHM December issue, which is on sale now.
FHM chose celebrity, Lee-Ann Liebenberg, for the cover of the 10th birthday issue as its iconic '
FHM Girl of the Decade'. Lee-Ann is one of three of the world’s sexiest women featured in the extended 24-page
FHM 3D Special, presented by Samsung. She also appears on a free 3D poster inserted in the magazine. In another first for magazines, the outside back cover of
FHM boasts a different image of Lee-Ann as added reader value on the flip side. To enable readers to view the 3D pages properly, a special pair of FHM 3D glasses also form part of the package.

According to
FHM Editor, Hagen Engler, it is important to ensure that the selected 3D images look as normal as possible without 3D glasses. “Our creative guys pulled off a unique trick in this regard. The images look great without the glasses, but come to luminous life in three dimensions when viewed with the accompanying
FHM Babe Goggles. The longer one wears the glasses, the better the effect,” he says.
This issue is one of the most successful
FHMs ever in terms of advertising income, says UCM COO, Kim Browne. “It’s amazing to look back at
FHM’s 10 years as South Africa’s leading men’s lifestyle media brand, while publishing one of the highest income magazines of its first decade. In these tough economic times, we’re proud of
FHM’s important place in the hearts and minds of our loyal brand fans and advertising partners.”
In this special collector’s magazine extravaganza,
FHM also features an eye-opening interview with a 10-year-old lightie; an expert's guide to what to expect in the immediate future; and it lists the top 21 things that are so weirdly terrifying to all guys.
Online at
fhm.co.za, the 3D special is expanded with many additional pics and other elements such as 3D wallpaper downloads.
