The Cavewoman, played by inimitable VITA-nominated actress Vanessa Frost, finally comes to Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre. This original and proudly home-grown South Africn script is fabulously funny, and the female response to the
Defending The Caveman story and the battle of the sexes. The play has become a worldwide phenomenon, enjoying acclaimed seasons abroad. Since 2005, it has drawn large audiences in a number of European cities, and is soon to open in the U.S.
Written by twice
VITA-nominated brilliant Emma Pierson, and directed by the talented Stephen Simm, the script digs deep into the caves of the female psyche. It sends the male of our species scattering in all directions, but masterfully debunks the stereotypical myths about how women think. It is not a women's lib rant, rather an affectionate 'tongue-in-cheek' look at the quirks and idiosyncrasies of humankind - both male and female. After all, who wouldn't recognise the foibles of men and women, from the typical female's inexplicable mood-swings and constant quest for the perfect body, to the caveman's beer toting; rugby watching; and remote-control controlling. This inspirational, laugh-a-minute comedy is about two completely different creatures, desperately trying to co-exist on one tiny planet – and sharing one bathroom.
