Radio Mafisa, broadcast from Rustenburg on frequency 93.4 FM, targets Tswana-speaking listeners aged 18 to 35 in Rustenburg; Koster; Sun City; Haartebeesfontein; Brits; Swartruggenes; Derby; Marikana; and some parts of the Gauteng province. The station has a programme format of 60% music and 40% talk, and broadcasts 24-hours a day, seven days a week. It is owned by Talent Community Organisation, which was constituted as a non-profit making body in June 1991. It broadcasts mostly in Setswana (70%); English (15%); and isiXhosa; with a small amount of Afrikaans (5%).
The station’s general format contains 10 news bulletins per day; actuality; education; basic health; local choirs; local, national and international sport; community notices; music; and religion.
