Elle Decoration wins at PICA
Local design and décor doyenne, Laureen Rossouw, has been appointed as the Editor of leading South African décor magazine, ELLE Decoration. Having garnered over three decades of experience as a noted stylist; editor; and producer, Rossouw’s unrivalled passion to develop; mold; and create is sure to inspire yet another fresh new edge to Elle Decoration's pages.
Elle Decoration magazine has won the coveted PICA Award for best decor; crafts; food; and gardening magazine in the consumer category at the 2009
Magazine Publishers' Association of South Africa (MPASA) PICA Awards which were held on 26 November at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
With the aim to reward outstanding editorial and publishing excellence in the
South African magazine industry, the PICA Awards Committee selected Elle
Decoration as the best in its category. Former Elle Decoration editor, Karen Roos, accepted the award at the glittering ceremony. She comments, “It is an
honour to receive this award on behalf of the team who consistently continues
to produce South Africa’s most popular contemporary lifestyle magazine in
spite of tough competition and economic recession. Although it is discerning in
its choice of editorial, Elle Decoration sets out – and succeeds – in being highly accessible; practical; and geared towards a reader who want stylish solutions to décor challenges.”
The 2009 PICA Awards mark the third consecutive win for the Elle Decoration title with previous accolades including 2008’s Highly Commended for decor; crafts; food; and gardening and a double victory in 2007 as winner of the floating trophy for Magazine Of The Year as well as best decor; crafts; food; and gardening magazine.
The world’s biggest selling homes magazine, Elle Decoration has 24 editions
across the globe. The South African edition is published eight times a year in
print, and its blog is updated daily.
