e.tv brings South African viewers a first in television and a unique concept in the world of competitive dancing with its broadcast of the
Superdance Championship on Tuesday, 15 December at 21:00.
The Superdance Championship is a spectacular event that is the rousing, dramatic finale to e.tv’s reality Latin dance series,
Superdance South Africa. Punted as part of the series winners’ prize, the
Superdance Championship is a dance show like no other with a gladiator format, featuring the 'best of the best' dance duos from North America; Europe; Asia; and South Africa facing off other against each other on the dance floor for the title of
Superdance Champion.
Each couple will compete in both the Latin style dance routines and in Freestyle, under the watchful eyes of the most respected experts in the dance industry - judges Stanislav Popov (President of the Russian Dance Union); Masami Suda (Japanese Latin Champion); and Michael Wentink (12-time World Latin American Champion).

District 9 actress, Vanessa Haywood, and actor, Kevin Otto, in front of a live audience at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Sunday, 27 September 2009, this glamorous event promises to astound; delight; and entertain dancers and viewers alike.
Setting the dance floor ablaze are the following Latin Superstars:
Slavik Kryklyvvy and Anna Melnikova (Russia)An exciting new partnership comprised of two acknowledged and successful individual dancers. Slavik, originally from the Ukraine, is one of the world’s greatest Latin dancers with titles such as US Open Professional Latin Championship; Russian Champion; and World Finalist behind his name. His partner, Anna Melnikova, turned professional to dance with Slavik. She shares the World; British Open (Blackpool); and Danish Amateur Latin champion titles with her former partner, Daniel Falkenburg.
Andre and Natalie Paramonov (Canada)Dancing together since 1998, Andre and Natalie have perfected their partnership. They hold the title of Canadian National Champions in Latin and Ballroom Dance and are current WDC World Latin Showdance Champions. They train amateur dancers for the world of competition in Canada and the US. In April 2009, they were part of a goodwill mission that worked with young dancers in the developing training centres in South America.
Dorin Frecauntanu and Roselina Doneva (Moldova)Dorin Frecauntanu and Roselina Doneva started dancing together in January 2006, and they have already won a number of prestigious titles including 2009 Macau Open, 2008 US Open and 2007 Amateur Latin Championships.
Danny Liang Zhao and Vivian Xue Gao (China)Danny and Vivian currently hold the Chinese National Champions title. In 2008, they were runners-up in the Macao International Open Dance Sport in Professional Latin.
Bohlale Manyane and Nyembezi Mahlangu (South Africa)The winning couple of the South African dance series,
Superdance South Africa, Bohlale and Nyembezi have come a long way from teaching the art to young students. As part of their series prize, they’ll now have the opportunity to compete against international stars on their home ground.
Keeping scores and paying close attention to the couples' fancy footwork are:
Stanislav Popov (Russia)Stanislav Popov, a previous world champion dancer from Russia is respected among dancers around the world. He is the President of the Russian Dance Union.
Masami Suda (Japan)Masami Suda and her former partner Akira Hojo were first in the Latin American division of the All Japan Championships in 1996 and owned the title for six consecutive years. At present, Masami teaches dance in Japan, gives professional performances and judges as a certified adjudicator at international competitions.
Michael Wentink (South Africa)Michael Wentink became the first South African to win the World Latin American Amateur Championships, at the age of 21. He ranked in the top six in the professional field of Latin dance after turning professional, a position he held until he recently retired from dancing competitively.
The magic continues on Tuesday, 22 December when the winners will be crowned.
