Get to Vaudeville this festive season and party into 2010!
Mischievous mayhem; eye-candy; and magical circus is how Vaudeville, Cape Town’s newest entertainment destination, has been described by its fast-growing fan base.
An outstanding burlesque show incorporates 19 slick acts featuring top South African and international performers in a mesmerising multi-genre Vaudevillian experience. Bboys; acro-adagio dancers; a spectacular hula hoop fire act; vertical pole runners; aerial acrobats; tap dancers; quirky floor performers; and more are thrilling patrons nightly at the plush entertainment venue that has opened in the city to great acclaim. Irit Noble, well known to Capetonian audiences, compères the show, backed by the To Do Sisters and a quartet of very sexy showgirls. The outstanding theatrical team behind Vaudeville combines the creative talents of producers, Will Hutton and Andrew Florenca of The Sunroom, and Dirk Vervaeke, the well-known art director and party architect.
Vaudeville is a 300-seater supper club venue that not only offers a spectacular performance but includes a three-course dinner created by super chef, Andrea Foulkes, and her team at DISH Food & Social. Between acts, Jinx, the fabulous five-piece band led by Vaughan de Ville, provides the music - a blend of circus; Balkan; and oompah. It has been conceptualised by Robert Sawyer and Tom Pearson-Adams of RSTPA Media (Pty) Ltd, whose vision it is to create the Mother City’s most sought after nightspot.
Sawyer, with 25 years experience in hotels; restaurants; and bars, is more qualified than most to embark on a project of this nature. Having successfully floated his UK-based entertainment group, ‘Po Na Na’, in the 1990s, Robert has since turned the once unknown hotel, The Farinet, in Switzerland’s Verbier into the world’s number one Après Ski venue, and Vaudeville will be his 100th venue opening. His business partner, Tom Pearson-Adams, comes with 15 years experience in and around the European music industry, with numerous international broadcast and licensing credits, including the first global
Ministry Of Sound DVD and introducing the sales of the George V (Buddha Bar series) label to the UK. They are currently working on a number of European based projects and own the South African based book publishing company, Outstanding 100.
The venue also incorporates the Moroccan-themed Fez Club upstairs that has been re-launched by Andrew Lee from the Karma Lounge. Its convenient location enables patrons to continue the fun after each show.
Performances run Mondays to Saturdays at 20:15, with guests to be seated by 19:45. Tickets cost R350 each, and R395 for those in the VIP balcony section with its private bar and smoking area.
