This year, Ash Wednesday is on 17 February. Spirit Sundae visited the community of Reiger Park on the East Rand of Johannesburg, as it commemorated the momentous Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent and Sundae witnessed an Intwaso ceremony in Protea Glenn, Soweto.
