Ses Snare is to play on the East Rand for the first time on 25 April at 16:00 when they will be performing in the Big Top Arena at Carnival City.

This year is a busy one for the group with concerts at various festivals and theatres and also a few tours coming up. Ses Snare features Mathys Roets; Mel Botes; Blackie Swart; Wouter Van De Venter; Leon Ecroignard; and Thean Kotze.

The group has become famous for the way in which it revamps old hits and gives a brand-new sound to familiar songs with its acoustic guitar and vocals. There is also quite a bit of original music written by the guys themselves.

Ses Snare performances at arts festivals such as the ABSA KKNK; Aardklop; Innibos; and the Volksblad Festival were sold out time and again, and audiences could not stop talking about this exciting group. Master guitarists like Mel Botes; Blackie Swart; Leon Ecroignard on bass; Wouter van de Venter who adds the lekker rock sound; and Mathys Roets and Thean Kotze whose unique voices complete the 'six pack', are bound to give audiences a musical thrill they won't forget for a long time. A CD and a DVD were released at the end of October 2009 and are available from music shops country-wide.

According to Giep van Zyl, Manager of the group, Ses Snare will stick to its success recipe this year: “We will still be including known as well as original music in the new programme, but we would like to take the show to a higher level. We are going to rehearse a couple of musically challenging songs, and make more use of the special talents of each string, and in this way we will expand our repertoire. We will still be performing some of the songs from the previous production, but have also prepared some wonderful surprises for the audiences that are going to see Ses Snare this year."

Frans Swart, Managing Director of Lefra Productions, says he is very excited about presenting Ses Snare at Carnival City's Big Top Arena. "This must be one of the most creative productions I have seen in a long time. Every one of the guys brings his own unique gift to the production, which makes it a theatre experience par excellence. I can really recommend this production," Swart says. "We make such a hullabaloo about the overseas groups that visit SA. Yet we have Ses Snare, which could be just as popular as any of the groups that have visited us over the past few years… Let us support our own local Afrikaans performers as well!"
