The Theatre of Marcellus kicks off with creative genius Steve Hofmeyr who, after a three year slumber, takes to the road with Duisend En Een, his first new Afrikaans album since Waarmaker (2007). Hofmeyr will perform brand new material off his latest CD and will also entertain the audience with his greatest hits, from Pampoen to Die Blou Bul. The show will be performed from 14 to 24 July and ticket prices start from R135 per person (Wednesdays to Saturdays).

Rudi and Corlea are two young musicians who have impressed audiences with their talent and charm. The gifted couple’s first album reached gold status within eight weeks and is already on the way to platinum-selling status. Rudi and Corlea may be young, but their talent has captured the hearts of music lovers. Tickets for their live DVD recording on 30 July in the Theatre of Marcellus are R120 per person.

Another fellow who had taken a break for a few months is ‘caveman’, Hannes Muller, who returns with a vengeance in Groet die Grotman, a humouristic exploration of the differences between men and women. This one-man show has played to sold-out theatres across the country and audiences can catch Groet die Grotman from 4 to 8 August at the Theatre of Marcellus and ticket prices start from R100 per person.

Back by popular demand, a new, energetic and spirited one hour cabaret, Adrenalin II returns to the Odeon Showbar stage from 6 August for three months. In association with Mezzoforte Productions, Adrenalin II consists of timeless music; outstanding dancing; and powerful vocal talent. Tickets are R65 per person and can be purchased at the door. (Wednesday and Thursday shows start at 21:00, Saturday and Sunday shows start at 21:30).

The music just won’t stop at Theatre of Marcellus with David’s Confession adding to the plethora of musical entertainment. David’s Confession is considered one of the major breakthroughs and a phenomenon in the history of South African rock music. The group has enjoyed an enormous cult following during the past 12 years. The show will be performed on 13 and 14 August and ticket prices are R150 per person.

Emperors Palace celebrates South Africa’s cultural diversity with funny man Sans Moonsamy, one of South Africa’s premier comedians in Karma Komedian. Moonsamy is back with his hilarious one-man show, combining stand-up and sketch comedy on Indian lives; wives; and drives that will have the audience in stitches. The show will be performed in the Theatre of Marcellus from 20 to 22 August and ticket prices are R120 per person.

The spectacular stage production, Afri-Frans, has gripped the imagination and hearts of theatre-goers countrywide and finally graces the Theatre of Marcellus stage from 25 to 29 August. The sensational Myra Maud will be accompanied by SAMA- winning performer and songwriter, Anna Davel. These two powerful voices will intertwine magically as they create memorable musical moments, moving with ease between languages and leaving the audience completely captivated. Ticket prices start from R160 per person.

Adding to the excitement of the Emperors Palace line-up will be one of South Africa’s biggest artists, Theuns Jordaan met Band. For two nights only on 17 and 18 September, fans will enjoy hit songs such as Soos Bloed; Hakiesshart; and Jou Asem. Ticket prices start from R100 per person at the Theatre of Marcellus.

All the way from Minsk, Russia, Camerata Vocal is regarded as one of the world’s best acapella groups. The group is made up of eight professional musicians and seven singers who experiment with new forms of sound to create acapella harmonies that sooth the soul. This unusual sound can be enjoyed from 1 to 3 October at the Theatre of Marcellus and ticket prices are R135 per person.

Direct from 'The Legends Show' Las Vegas comes a tribute to Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. For many years, Las Vegas has been hosting 'The Legends Show' featuring ‘look and sound alike’ artistes. Among the most popular and best attended shows were the tribute shows to Dolly Parton (Sherry Gordon) and Kenny Rogers (Mark Hinds). This powerful duo will grace our shores from 13 to 15 October in the Theatre of Marcellus. Ticket prices are R150 per person and special dinner packages are available on request.

Another force to be reckoned with is Robbie Wessels. The talented singer will perform all his hits, from Hou Vas Jou Matras and Verbode Vrugte to Waar Lê Jy Vanaand and Asseblief my Lief in this special acoustic performance. Featuring out of this world circus acts, the magical ingredient is undoubtedly Dr. Victor and The Rasta Rebels. One for the history books... from 15 to 24 December at the Theatre of Marcellus, the legendary Johnny Clegg will be celebrating his 30th anniversary in the South African music industry with his 'Spirit is the journey' show. Fans can expect old favourites that span over his 30 year career, like Scatterlings of Africa; Cruel, Crazy Beautiful World; and African Sky Blue.
