Celebrating Women
Behind every inspiring woman there has to be … another inspiring woman. Two young South Africans currently hitting the headlines, pay tribute to their guiding stars. Sculptor, Marieke Prinsloo-Rowe, is ‘Walking the Road’ with her head-turning 18-piece installation on the Sea Point Promenade, opening up a dialogue between the public and public art. But for her role model sister, Hanlie, she creates a much more personal artwork. Meantime, trailblazing model, Lerato Moloi, is also turning heads as the first African face of Elizabeth Arden. For her supportive mom, she arranges a special photo shoot of all the powerful women in their family.
Vivienne Westwood
She is undoubtedly one of the most unlikely women ever to be made a Dame of the British Empire. Anarchic punk and new wave fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood, has for decades both shocked and beguiled international fashionistas. From outrageous garments adorned with razor blades and bicycle and toilet chains, to the famous wedding gown in the first
Sex and the City movie, Westwood is nothing short of a fashion phenomenon. In this year’s
Milan Men’s Fashion Week, her vibrant; quirky; over-the-top; but for her, remarkably ordered collection, stole the show. Sit in on
Top Billing’s backstage interview with this subversive, yet inspiring woman.
Inge Moore
Small is beautiful and less is more - surprisingly, even in the hospitality interior design industry. To prove it, South African designing woman supreme, Inge Moore, gives
Top Billing’s Jeannie D a peek into the tiny, 2m
2 Mont Blanc private dining room she designed in one of London’s top restaurants. In complete contrast is her ‘pure pleasure, no guilt’ design for the opulent Gilt Champagne Lounge. You don’t get to the top by chance. Hard work and a diversity of design experiences at home laid the foundation for Inge’s spectacular successes in Europe; Africa; and the Middle East.
Mark Pilgrim
Pilgrim’s progress has been like a runaway train; scaling mountains; and plunging into deep valleys. Appropriately,
Top Billing takes workaholic radio and TV presenter, Mark Pilgrim; wife, Nicole; and baby, Tayla-Jean, for a ride on the Gautrain, to learn more about the phenomenal successes and deep troughs of the man behind the face. With a lifelong passion for the microphone, Mark has survived both cancer and a severe heart attack. Now married to his great love, home is where his heart is. Tonight he invites viewers in to witness the imprinting of their baby’s finger- and footprints as a lasting remembrance of the miracle of her birth.
