Directed by Oliver Parker (Dorian Gray, St Trinian’s) and written by Hamish McColl (Mr Bean’s Holiday) and William Davies (How to Train Your Dragon, Flushed Away) the film is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner with Chris Clark (The Guard, Johnny English). Rowan Atkinson; Debra Hayward; and Liza Chasin are the executive producers.

In his latest adventure, the most unlikely intelligence officer in Her Majesty’s Secret Service must stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos.

In the years since MI7’s top spy vanished off the grid, English has been honing his unique skills in a remote region of Asia. But when his agency superiors learn of an attempt against the Chinese premier’s life, they must track down the highly unorthodox agent. Now that the world needs him once again, Johnny English is back in action.

The film also stars Gillian Anderson (The X Files, The Last King of Scotland) as MI7’s Director; Dominic West (The Wire, John Carter of Mars) as Special Agent, Simon Ambrose; Rosamund Pike (Barney’s Version, An Education, Pride & Prejudice) as MI7’s behavioural psychologist; and Daniel Kaluuya (Skins, Pyschoville) as Agent Tucker.

Joining Parker’s creative team are cinematographer Danny Cohen (This Is England, The Boat That Rocked); BAFTA winning production designer, Jim Clay (Children of Men, Love Actually); costume designer, Beatrix Aruna Pasztor (You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, Vanity Fair); make up designer, Graham Johnston (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Heaven and Earth); and editor, Guy Bensley (Dorian Gray, The Importance of Being Earnest).

Johnny English Reborn will shoot for 13 weeks in the UK and Hong Kong.
