Last week, Sindi Nene from Durban thought her time had come to bow out when the viewers’ votes placed her at the bottom of the ratings. But the
Idols judging panel of Randall Abrahams, Mara Louw and Gareth Cliff exercised their one Judges’ Save to keep her in the competition and in this weekend’s Spectacular, Sindi was back with a bang.
Judge, Randall Abrahams, said he didn’t think that South Africa had chosen its winner yet, and after tonight things would become very tight indeed.
As if to demonstrate Randall’s point, audience favourite, Elvis Blue, found himself in the firing line for the first time this week when polls of
Idols’ official radio partners revealed that Darren 'Whackhead' Simpson’s listeners on
94.7 Highveld Stereo thought he and Pieter West would be leaving.
Down in Cape Town, Ryan O’Connor’s listeners on
KFM predicted the end for Adeline and Lloyd.
All the other radio stations,
East Coast Radio,
Algoa FM, and
OFM in the Free State, said it would be the two girls, Adeline and Sindi.
In the end, with more than 800 000 votes cast this week, it was the Bloemfontein accountant, Pieter West, and lovely Adeline Mocke from Cape Town who had to bid the competition goodbye.
