Cosmopolitan readers get to choose which of the 12 will walk away with the coveted title of
SA’s Sexiest Man. Previous winners of this title include Colin Moss, Ryk Neethling, Pepsi Pokane and Wynand Olivier.
The Cosmopolitan sexiest SA men for 2011 are:
January: Gregg Hammond (Model) – Originally from Joburg, Gregg, a modelling sensation, is currently completing his final year of studies towards an LLB. He excels at anything sporty and is also known to cook up a storm in the kitchen!
February: Warwick Wright (Surfer) – Growing up in Durban, Warwick started surfing at the age of eight. Wok, as he’s also known, has since travelled the globe, riding the best waves and competing against the world’s finest.
March: Mark Pearce (Model) – Pearce’s modelling career sky-rocketed when he won the
Men’s Health Look in 2007, but this warm and friendly hottie also has a head for numbers: he has a BSc degree with Mathematics as a major.
April: Bheki Dladla (Musician) – Trained in musical theatre and an international model, Dladla lends his slick raps and rhymes to the Cape Town group, I Scream & The Chocolate Stix.
May: Bongani Khumalo (Soccer player) – Originally from Swaziland, this soccer player is a defender for Supersport United as well as our national team, but is set to transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in 2011.
June: Federico Fernandez (Musician) – a Buenos Aires native, he started playing guitar at the age of 14. He’s the founder, songwriter and guitarist of Son Of A 1 000 Blues, a distinctively eclectic band.
July: Larry Cohen (Soccer player) – Cohen scored his first professional contract at the age of 19. Earlier this year, he was invited to train with the Italian soccer team during the World Cup, and is currently contracted to Bidvest Wits.
August: Lunga Shabalala (Model) – Shabalala, from Durban, is the latest hunk to be chosen to represent Calvin Klein underwear in South Africa. He recently appeared in a
GQ spread and got to take his buff body to New York.
September: Christopher Jaftha (Actor) – Jaftha has an impressive collection of musical credits to his name and is best known for his turn as Eddie in the South African production of
Mamma Mia! October: Kyle Brown (Rugby player) – Brown grew up in Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, and started playing rugby at the age of 10. The South African Rugby Union named him the
Sasol Sevens Player Of The Year for 2010.
November: Tim Whitehead (Rugby player) – Originally from Port Elizabeth, Whitehead plays centre for Western Province in the Currie Cup and for the Stormers in Super Rugby.
December: Bjorn Steinbach (Actor) – Steinbach got his break in the
Emmy Award-winning mini-series,
Generation Kill in 2008. Roles in films such as
The Lost Future,
Invictus,
Birth Of A Legend and
Natalee Holloway followed.
