It is official - top model and TV actress Tanya van Graan is FHM's Sexiest Women in SA. The Nelspruit-born beauty topped the polls in the 2007 FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World, brought to you by AXE. Over 100 000 votes were cast which saw Van Graan, who placed at position 11 last year, shoot past previous local winners Lee-Ann Liebenberg and Kerry McGregor to land herself comfortably at number one. FHM's sexiest international woman is Jessica Alba, at position two. Global winner Alba and local favourite van Graan, both brunettes, reinforce the indication that SA men prefer dark-haired girls to their fairer sisters. Other brunettes who made the top five were 2005 poll winner Lee-Ann Liebenberg (#3) and former Miss SA Teen Gina Athans at number 5. Altogether, 33 local beauties made the Top 100. Amongst them were perennial favourites Tracy McGregor (#23), Minki van der Westhuizen (#27), Vanessa Carreira (#25) and Tanit Phoenix (#40). New to the list are FHM Calendar models Genevieve Morton (#82), Cyan Lippert (#98) and Rebekah van Rooyen (#87), FHM Homegrown Honey 2007 winner Louwrene Mienie (# 96), models Candice Boucher (#33) and Lexi Lennon (#72) as well as black beauties Katherine Kayembe (#76) and Katlego Danke (#74). Of the 68 international names, favourites include Americans Joanna Krupa (#16), Paris Hilton (#38) Angelina Jolie (#18), Jenny McCarthy (#10) and Carmen Electra (#7). British glamour model Emily Scott was also a top ten favourite at number eight. 24-year-old Van Graan, who found her way into FHM after doing an editorial shoot for the magazine in 2004, is also well-known for her appearances in the local TV series Hard Copy and Snitch. In 2006, she then featured in the FHM Calendar and FHM Lingerie Special. More recently, she pens a weekly column for men's weekly mag ZOO Weekly/Weekliks as its relationship expert. Commenting on her new-found status, Van Graan said that winning the title has been "very exciting and humbling" and considers it a huge compliment.
