With voting now closed for the 2007 FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, brought to you by AXE, insiders at FHM have revealed that previous winners have proven to remain popular and are in the running as frontrunners this year. Hagen Engler, editor of FHM, admitted that the possibility exists that a previous winner might take her title back, and that if this happens it will be the first time in the history of the competition that someone carries the title for more than one year. Names that have been released as the possible winner this year include 2005 brunette winner, Lee-Ann Liebenberg, as well as 2002's FHM Sexiest Women in South Africa, blonde winner Kerry McGregor. Other frontrunners include FHM Calendar and cover girl Tanya van Graan (brunette), former Miss SA-Teen Gina Athans (brunette) and Wonderbra sensation Lieschen Botes (blonde). "It certainly is a battle between the blondes and brunettes this year," says Engler. "Preliminary results reveal that South African men have an appreciation of all types of beautiful women, irrespective of their hair colour." Engler says that more than 100 000 votes were received this year. Durban-born Carla La Reserveé was crowned as the South African favourite last year. The winner of the FHM Sexiest Woman in South Africa title will be announced at the official FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2007 party, taking place on Saturday, 19 May 2007 at the Skyraiders Rand Airport in Germiston. Tickets are available at R140 each. Details are available on the FHM website, www.fhm.co.za.
