“For us it was just a natural flow that Dianne, being the angel with a heart of gold, would represent
Jacaranda 94.2 in making a difference and changing people’s lives for good”, said Jacaranda 94.2 spokesperson, Jenny Griesel.
So what is Bikers for Mandela Day about?
Mandela Day is a call to action by individuals, for people everywhere to take responsibility for changing the world into a better place as Nelson Mandela has done for more than 67 years. To become part of the Mandela Day Movement, it is required that an action which helps change the lives of people for the better is implemented. To ensure that their actions have lasting benefits, they should with and within communities, always strive to leave behind not only physical changes but also a sense empowerment, helping to build pride among those communities so that they can take charge of their destinies and change their circumstances. The cumulative actions of people, even if one small step at a time, can become a transformative momentum. Bikers and various personalities will spend 67 minutes with a project and offer labor to assist with previously identified needs.
The tour will start on Monday, 11 July in Johannesburg and arrive back in Gauteng on Mandela Day on 18 July. A motorbike tour from Johannesburg through rural SA in the provinces of the Free State, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Mpumalanga will be undertaken to mark the contribution of the motor biking community to Mandela Day. The group will ride approximately 300 to 400km daily.
Making this tour more interesting, various celebrities will be riding to spread the ubuntu spirit, celebrities include Bok Van Blerk, Jack Devnerain, Hanna Grobler, Constant Visser, Hykie Berg, Ivan Zimmerman, DJ Fresh, etc. The community's attention is drawn to projects by using the celebrities to highlight these areas for improvement. That encourages the community to look after these projects after the bikers’ visit.
Dianne will get up to loads of heartwarming activities, and she will be rolling her sleeves up and getting her hands dirty… Jacaranda 94.2 will be there to get you all the front-line action. Daily live crossings will take place from the various provinces to keep you up to date. Dianne will travel in a
Jacaranda 94.2 branded car so watch the roads closely to spot her.
