Radio Tygerberg was established in 1993. It has grown to be the largest Christian Community Radio Station in the Western Cape, with a listenership of 348 000 (RAMS 2005, wave 6). Listeners fall mainly in the LSM6-10 bracket, and in the age group 25 to 45 years. Their home languages are 60% Afrikaans, 25% English, 15% Xhosa and with a growing portion of German speaking listerners.
Radio Tygerberg is broadcast throughout the Cape Peninsula, which includes the northern and southern suburbs, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Somerset West, Strand and Grabouw. Broadcast is available 24hrs a day, 7 days per week on frequency 104FM.
Content presented includes news, listeners' views, celebrity interviews, and information pertaining to the community. It consists of 50% music and 50% talk mix. Music focuses on local artists (60%) and international music (40%).
