The Bedfordview Edenvale News has a print order of 41 050. It is distributed freely every Thursday to residents in Bedford Gardens, Bedfordview, Dowerglen, Dunvegan, Edenglen, Essexwold, Glendower, Highway Gardens, Meadowbrook, Modderfontein, Morninghill, Thornhill and Wilbart.
The newspaper started in March 1965 as The Edenvale News. It was in April 1986 that The Edenvale News merged with the Eastern Express to become the Bedfordview Edenvale News. Today the Bedfordview Edenvale News serves a large part of the eastern suburbs of Johannesburg. The newspaper acts as a watchdog for the community, as it covers the issues that are important to the rates and tax-payers of the area.
The Bedfordview Edenvale News has proved to be very popular with advertisers and has specialised sections, such as the monthly women's page and the business chatter, that allow advertisers to speak to the readers directly. A popular and quite unique feature of the paper is the weekly MyLife page. This page consists of an interview with an “average Joe” from the community, whose name is chosen out of the telephone directory by a journalist. This feature allows the average man on the street to get into the newspaper without a hard news topic being associated with them.
The content inside the newspaper is written in both English and Afrikaans. The Bedfordview Edenvale News is represented by the Newspaper Advertising Bureau (NAB).
