The
New Era Introducing exhibition is a touring gallery which began in November 2011 in London and has since gone on to tour five other European cities – Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Paris and Stockholm and will be in South Africa next month with the finale to be held Dubai in April.
New Era Introducing is a global creative project in which young designers from eight countries were given a blank New Era 59FIFTY cap and asked to express themselves and their talent by transforming the cap into a distinctive work of art as well as capturing the creative process behind their cap’s design; detailing its birth, creation, experience and influences. It aims to expose the young creative talents that exist in South Africa’s capital of Cape Town, a city recently selected as 2014’s
World Design Capital as part of a broader vision to position the city as a leading global city – a hub of creativity, knowledge, innovation and excellence.
The final entries were appraised by an international judging panel, including renowned British tailor Timothy Everest, and these entries now form part of the touring exhibition. Each finalist on the tour will experience invaluable international exposure among creatives and industry professionals. These works of art also feature in the limited edition
New Era Introducing hardback book. The winning design is by 23-year-old Lina Al-Amoudi from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
"
New Era Introducing is a platform for self expression and a strong reflection of our brand DNA. We have built our brand by focusing on customisation and collaboration and the opportunity to work on a project with young creative minds of tomorrow is incredibly exciting,” explained Wayne Best, New Era EMEA’s marketing director. “The unique artistic expressions and interpretations of the New Era 59FIFTY are simply inspiring. We’re proud to showcase these young talents and present their work in a unique gallery experience across EMEA, and eventually around the world.”
