Former CNN anchor and Inside Africa host Tumi Makgabo takes up a regular slot on M-Net from 7 September at 19:00, with a new television show, Talk with Tumi Makgabo.
Makgabo returned from Atlanta last year, and in February 2006 hosted a Carte Blanche special, in which she interviewed British Prime Minister Tony Blair about his trip to South Africa for the Progressive Governance Summit.
South African-born Makgabo is no stranger to interviewing high-profile officials, having interviewed prominent world leaders such as South African President Thabo Mbeki; Nelson Mandela; US President George W Bush; British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo; former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell; United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Tibetan Spiritual Leader, the Dalai Lama.
During her stint with CNN, she covered numerous world events and issues including the fall of Liberia's former President, Charles Taylor; the change of leadership in the former Soviet republic of Georgia; the War in Iraq; the 2004 elections in South Africa; the U.S. Presidential elections in 2000; the World Conference against Racism in 2001; and the September 11 terrorist attacks.
