5FM announces additional line-up changes
5FM is adding brand new shows to its already sizzling lineup. From Friday, 1 April, the station welcomes award-winning DJ Rob Vember into the 12:00 to 15:00 weekday slot. Joining Vember is show contributor Kim Schulze who willll be reading the news, as well as continuing to head up 5FM’s CSI initiative, Youngblood5.
“Expect a fun, lighthearted and easygoing show,” promises Cape Town-born Rob Vember, who has hosted the Monday to Thursday, 19:00 to 22:00 slot for three years.
Listeners get to ‘own’ the playlist on Sundays with the introduction of Beats By Demand, hosted by Bongi Mbelu. This new show on Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00 is for people who’re passionate about personalising their music. Listeners can call in to a dedicated Beats By Demand line and leave their requests and dedications which will get played during the show. Mbelu will also be doing live music requests. Another highlight is the last hour of the show, called New 1’s@1, where Mbelu will play ‘breaking music’ – this is the first time in the week that 5FM listeners will hear all the brand new tracks that have been added to the playlist.
5FM is also pleased to welcome back a familiar face, Fikile Moeti aka Fix, who returns to the station after a one-and-a-half year break in America to further her studies. Fix will bring her impressive music knowledge and DJing skills to the Saturday Nite Fix (Saturdays, 10:00 to 1:00). Fix keeps the party going into the early hours of Sunday with the hottest upbeat commercial dance music from all corners of the globe.
More announcements will be made on Thursday, 15 March.
