Says Cohen, “After returning to South Africa in January 2012 - for a holiday and to develop a feature film - my wife and I decided that there were many factors that made it a better proposition than Europe. Europe then seemed (and now seems) to be heading for a considerable downturn, while fellowship and friends, the quality of the creative work, and the opportunity to work on a number of feature projects made South Africa far more enticing.”

Commenting on why he decided to rejoin the Fresh Eye team, Cohen explains, “Considering their solid reputation with agencies, strong production backup and ability to pull work for their directors, I believe this collaboration will provide an ideal launch pad for a determined crack at the South African market again - especially with Ashley as my producer. There is still a major gap for great work which, in turn, can draw the kind of jobs that make directing the joy that it can be.“

Says Gavin Gillespie, executive producer, Fresh Eye Film Productions, “We are thrilled to have Johnny back with us. We know him well and believe that the years he has been away, working abroad will only have added to his keen sense of talent and ability. We look forward to a successful partnership together and are excited at what lies ahead.”
