What can one expect from the fifth season? An hour of pure adrenaline-fueled drama for starters. Whether diving off 75-foot Jamaican cliffs into the ocean, recreating Cool Runnings, meeting Jamaican celebrities or facing their shortcomings, this season of Tropika Island of Treasure brings viewers much more than ever before.

Housed in two 7-star butler attended villas, the cast of Tropika Island of Treasure underwent a far more intense filming experience than previous seasons. Add to that much bigger Island Games - both in scale and execution - and a great line-up of players, and one gets a show that is bursting with injury-prone, laugh-a-minute, goose bump-inducing entertainment.

Back to host the series for the fourth time, DJ Fresh will introduce viewers to his co-pilot and new addition to the show, Jamaican model and former beauty queen, Rosina Casserly. “Early in the planning process of this season we decided that we wanted to really give the viewer a taste of the sights and sounds of Jamaica. The Jamaican accent is just legendary, and casting a local host allowed us to make sure the Jamaican voice would be heard in each episode,“ says Tropika Island of Treasure creator and executive producer Samantha Moon. “We struck gold with Rosina, she did an absolutely amazing job. She is talented, vibrant and feisty, and also rather easy on the eye. The audience is going to love her as much as we did.”

“We are thrilled that the 5th season of Tropika Island of Treasure will air on Mzansi’s #1 television channel for the very first time in February 2013,” says SABC1’s publicity manager, Vukile Madlala. “We are inviting our viewers to tune in for an adventurous 10 weeks of authentic entertainment exclusive to SABC1 Mzansi Fo Sho,” she adds.

In case one forgot, the cast comprises of celebrities AKA, DA L.E.S, Phuti Khomo, Pearl Thusi, Jay Anstey, Reeva Steenkamp and Mario Ogle, as well as the seven lucky public winners Katleho Molai, Mbali Ngaleka, Genevieve Amy Arulappan, Sinethemba Buthelezi, Duan Wanty and Kefentse Moagi. Who will crack under the pressure and expose their flaws? Who will form friendships and who will double cross their alliances? Who will be too scared to jump off the cliff and who will be rushed to hospital from an Island Game related injury? And of course the million rand question is: who will walk away as the winner of season five of Tropika Island of Treasure?
