IMEXSA's focus is to develop and increase the number of music exporters in South Africa by identifying trade opportunities and assisting companies to take advantage of those opportunities. Supported by Gauteng Growth Development Agency and Funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, IMEXSA has been operating over the past five years. During this time they have participated in and presented South African Unsigned and Independent Music Professionals at Popkomm in Germany, Womex in Denmark, Primavera Pro in Spain, Canada Music Week in Toronto, and South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.

To expand its reach to a larger audience and to assist in the development of South African entertainment business, IMEXSA will be offering an Export Development Program focusing on USA and Europe market.

Export-ready South African Unsigned Independent artists and Industry Music Professionals are encouraged to submit for this program and take advantage of the opportunities to build their international careers.

The Export Development Program is designed to help South African unsigned independent musicians, managers and company representatives to become export ready and to create an environment where international opportunities for the export of music products can be explored. The program provides participants with a systematic approach to develop a sustainable export strategy. The strategy will help them understand the strengths and weaknesses of their products, business environment and market expectations. More importantly, it helps them set realistic goals for their businesses.
