Making Moves is an award winning magazine show that promotes young successful South African entrepreneurs. The show airs on SABC1, Mondays at 13:30. Each week Making Moves profiles a budding entrepreneur who runs a company that has been in existence for over a year, is between the ages of 18 to 35, can proof cash flow into the business, but has some teething problems.

Profiled businesses are paired with a mentor (business guru) who gives the entrepreneurs advice on how to improve the running of their companies. The entrepreneurs profiled are given three tasks by the mentor, which they have a day to complete, to show the eagerness of growing their business. At the end of the tasks the entrepreneurs are evaluated and awarded points based on their performance. They also have an opportunity to pitch for an investment of R10 000, from Making Moves, into their business. On the basis of the pitch, a panel of judges use their discretion to award whatever amount of money they feel the entrepreneur deserves.

The role of the mentor is to provide advice to the entrepreneurs in order to help them take their business to the next level. This is done through interaction between the mentor and the entrepreneur for half a day. The presenter introduces the mentor to the business owner, and then they go through the business for an evaluation process. The mentor gives their thoughts of the business and what they consider to be the problems with regard to the business. At the end of the evaluation, the mentor issues three mini tasks to the business owner, which they need to complete within a day. The task should be physical and action driven and should be achievable within a day. The mentor will also be part of the judging panel, which happens on a different day in a boardroom.

The role of the judge is based in the boardroom during pitching sessions. The entrepreneur will pitch for an investment of R10 000 to a panel of three judges, who then decide, after deliberations, on how much they are willing to invest in the company. The judges also award points to the entrepreneur for their performance on the task that they received from the mentor.
