While Vel’s name was thrown around at first, Sivu butted heads with captain Fish and tribe members experienced Zan as “arrogant and aggressive”, Killarney’s departure can be laid at the feet of Shane and Marian. The tribe’s two schemers were not that worried about her physical strength; it was her strategy and impressive social game that scared them and made them decide to blindside her.

In the words of Shane: “It’s not a good sign to see Killarney suddenly develop a backbone and start organising four or five people to vote. She really is starting to blossom into someone that could be a threat later on.”

When host Nico Panagio read the votes at Utara’s first Tribal Council, Sonette received three votes, Zan one and the surprised Killarney six.

It was a clean sweep for Selatan this week after also they won the ‘Chopstix’ challenge, picking up an array of camp mattresses, mosquito nets, pillows, hammocks and other implements to make their nights more comfortable, courtesy of headline sponsors Outsurance.

What else went down in this episode:

Some Utara members were not happy with captain Fish’s leadership. Both Killarney and Sivu were upset when he picked them to sit out at the Reward Challenge, and when Sivu questioned him afterwards, Fish lost his cool, leaving Sivu walking away in tears.

Over at Selatan, the tribe got their first good night’s sleep thanks to their Reward Challenge win, but that didn’t stop tempers from flaring. Shona and David had a disagreement when he wouldn’t show her where he’d hidden the Immunity Idol and she threatened to sell him out to the rest of the tribe. Concerned that he was already being shunned, he relented and they agreed to be ‘heroes’ rather than ‘fools’.

Stephen picked up the Selatan mascot, Wilson, after the Reward Challenge and played a role with Solly and Mark in smashing him to pieces against a rock.

Buhle and Sonette’s post-Fire Fight challenge agreement regarding the clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol dissolved amidst mistrust, with Buhle openly displeased with the Mortuary Attendant at Tribal Council.

Zan caught a water monitor lizard but refused to kill it for food, setting it free to scamper away across the beach as Stephen lamented, watching a meal run away.
