For the past decade the Theatre has presented a varied programme of world-class entertainment across drama, comedy, dance and music. From the first production on 12 March 2004, Tales of an African Knight, directed by Nicholas Ellenbogen, to shows such as the multiple-award winning London Road, which premiered on the Kalk Bay Theatre stage, and went on to win a Best Actress award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Robyn Scott, the Theatre has created a unique dinner and theatre experience where guests can linger after the show and meet the performers in a relaxed environment.

“I remember feeling excited, overwhelmed, proud, astounded and a whole gamut of other emotions that there had just a first performance on a stage in a theatre that I part owned. One of my theatre dreams had come true,” says co-founder and owner Simon Cooper on recalling the memory of the opening night. “It was an honour to have the Ellenbogens help bring that dream to fruition and so we are especially delighted they are able to take part in our tenth birthday celebrations.”

The line-up for the week will feature a different programme each night, starring some of the artists who have been part of Kalk Bay Theatre’s journey. On 11 March, long-standing Tuesday night resident, TheatreSports perform an extra special show and theatre luminaries Nicholas and Liz Ellenbogen take to the stage.

Wednesday night brings a top secret, surprise artist, while Thursday is a celebration of dance that will sweep one off one's feet. Multiple award-winning Follow Spot Productions - who have also brought their energy to the revamped Kalk Bay Theatre Kitchen and Bar - are on the bill, with Theatre co-founder Helen Cooper and Friends. There will be a sneak preview of the forthcoming Undermined, directed by multiple award-winner Tara Notcutt and featuring the talented team of Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Luke Brown and Stefan Erasmus. Undermined will be performed at Kalk Bay Theatre in April.

Friday night’s line-up includes the eternally popular Gaëtan Schmid, whose quirky style has delighted audiences at Kalk Bay Theatre where he has performed many of his one-man shows such as The Belgian, Body Language, Rumpsteak, The Dog’s Bollocks and The Incredible Beer Show.

On Saturday night there’s a grand finale of Rob van Vuuren and James Cairns, who have both performed in numerous shows at the Theatre, and appeared together in Brother Number. Audiences will know Cairns from his shows Rat, Sitting Man, Dirt and Sie Weiss Alles, while Van Vuuren has presented Electric Juju and Rob van Vuuren is Rob van Vuuren.

Special birthday show and dinner packages will be available for the Kalk Bay Theatre tenth birthday week. Tickets cost R175 and includes dinner, show, wine and birthday cake.
