Nominees for the eighth annual SA Film & Television Awards (SAFTAs), the local industry’s highest honours, were announced with M-Net productions sweeping the board. M-Net leads the 2014 SAFTA’s with a total of 36 nominations across General Entertainment and Local Interest programming.
“This is an incredible start to 2014 for M-Net, with phenomenal wins across the board,” said M-Net's Corporate Affairs director, Kershnee Govender. “We are proud of our association with the SAFTAs, which bring together thousands of people to honour and celebrate the year’s best in the industry. We are committed to acknowledging and rewarding the craft of our local television and film professionals.”
Having always been a leader in the local application of technology, M-Net is now actively transitioning its corporate investment towards finding sustainable ways in which to engage the film and TV industry on heightening its focus on skills and knowledge transfer to previously disadvantaged individuals. This approach sees M-Net supporting empowerment in the arts; encouraging entrepreneurship and job creation and skills development.
“The SAFTAs give the industry an excellent platform on which to recognise those who, through their diligence, their inspiration and their sheer magic, make a difference through art and film. We are honoured to be part of this event,” said Govender.
