DJ Fresh will amplify the essence of music youth culture and entertainment on weekday mornings and will provide a new offering to the South African morning radio landscape.
The decision to start the show at 05:00 has been fuelled by feedback from listeners to have a breakfast show that starts their day when they do. DJ Fresh will be joined by his long standing colleagues Catherine Grenfell (executive producer) and Duran Collett (sport). Newbies include Carmen Reddy (news) who has extensive TV and radio background and Sol Phenduka (traffic) who has recently been in the
Big Brother Mzansi House and has extensive morning radio experience.
DJ Fresh commented “I have always enjoyed doing morning radio and the move back to AM drive is a great opportunity to create content and entertain in a new space. I am excited about the new additions to my team and guarantee the audience will be part of my journey in every aspect of the show and P.S no prisoners will be taken.”
Tim Zunckel, programme manager, commented, “I am particularly excited about DJ Fresh’s move to the early part of the morning and look forward to offering the audience a varied combination of entertainment to start their day. With DJ Fresh leaving the PM drive slot, it creates a great opportunity for Roger Goode to inject some of his crazy antics from 4PM in the afternoon.”
Goode makes his move to drive time radio as a well-loved, respected DJ in the youth culture space. The audience can expect quirky content, and an uplifting afternoon show. Goode has been with
5FM for more than 10 years and will be joined by an energetic and eccentric team.
5FM’s favourite ginger Sias Du Plessis will anchor sport and Vic Naidoo will be on news.
5FM’s newest addition, Thando Thabethe will be on traffic.
Goode says, “Finally, they have let me out the basement of the SABC. I have had an amazing journey with
5FM and to entertain audiences during the afternoon drive time show is going to be such an epic adventure.”
Zunckel further added; “Both drive time DJs are an absolute asset to
5FM. DJ Fresh and Roger Goode will redefine drive time radio and with a new time channel offering
5FM will offer audiences across South Africa a more varied, fast paced and appropriate listening option throughout the day.”
