Joining eight fellow winegrowers from Elim and surrounds at hosting farm, Black Oystercatcher, the entire Strandveld Vineyards wine range will be available to taste and purchase on the day.

Wine lovers will be able to tuck into mouth-watering sosatie pairings with the elegant cool climate Strandveld Vineyards wines. Winemaker Conrad Vlok, a keen fisherman and hunter, has picked his favourite line fish and game for his sosaties.

“For our Strandveld and First Sighting Sauvignon Blanc 2013 we have chosen a yellow tail sosatie. This well-known favourite from Struisbaai is such a versatile fish that you can pickle it or enjoy as is – a great match for our Sauvignon Blanc,” says Vlok.

For his just released Strandveld The Navigator 2012, a full-bodied signature red, Volk and his team will prepare curried Springbok sosaties. “The combination of dried peaches and apricots with the springbok pairs just beautifully with the spiciness of The Navigator,” notes Vlok.

Wine lovers at the Elim Wine & Food Celebration will be spoilt for choice with a wide range of exciting wines from the relatively young Elim wine growing region, known for producing cool climate wines of great elegance and finesse.

The event’s itinerary includes hearty country food, artisanal beer from the continent’s most southerly brewery and great music from well known local artist Valiant Swart. Local produce, hand crafted pottery and beautiful indigenous flowers will also be available for purchase. A breathtaking archery performance on horseback, a savvy sheepdog performance and a crop spraying plane demonstration will be included in the day’s program.
