LNN was co-created by Loyiso Gola, Kagiso Lediga and Tamsin Andersson and features some of South Africa's top comedians and comedy writers.
This is the second time the series has been nominated for an award, having received its first nomination in 2013.
“We’re beyond excited to have been nominated – it’s a huge thumbs up for our industry, showing that South African talent is on par with what’s on offer in the rest of the world,” said Kagiso Lediga, co-founder of Diprente and director of
LNN. He was speaking from New York, where he and the
LNN team attended the awards.
Having attracted millions of viewers throughout the country,
LNN is now wrapping up its fourth year. Its enduring popularity is testimony to its unerring ability to push satire to its limits. The series stands out just as much for the talent and flair which has become a hallmark of Diprente’s productions, which include the likes of
Blitz Patrollie and innovative branded entertainment such as the soccer world cup focussed
Dave’s Big Break and insurance edutainment series
Next of Next Week.
The International Emmy® Awards were established by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to recognise excellence in television produced outside of the United States.
LNN airs on eNCA, channel 403 on DStv on Wednesdays at 21:30 and e.tv on Thursdays at 20:00, with repeats on eNCA on Thursdays at 12:30; Fridays at 09:30; Saturdays at 16:30 and 23:30; Sundays at 21:30; and Mondays at 11:30.
