The event strictly targets young musicians in disadvantaged areas across the country. Gud Fellaz, an acapella group from Tshwane were the winners of last year’s event, and have since enjoyed exposure in the music industry, including recording jingles for Gauteng youth radio station, YFM. This year the group made it in to the top 21 contestants on eTV’s South Africa’s Got Talent.

Gud Fellaz say; “Without the South African Music Marathon, we wouldn’t have been able to realise our greatest potential, and we’re looking to make our families proud and make the most of our talents. We hope that many talented young people will see the value of being proactive and not giving up on their dreams.”

The South African Music Marathon programme director Sello Ramosepele says; “I knew that SA Music Marathon would offer youngsters opportunities such as these, I’m thrilled to have played a part in mentoring and piloting a project such as this one.”

South African Music Marathon is currently planning for the 2016 event which will also be looking to empower young talented people who don’t have such platforms to showcase their creative prowess.
