As Pistorius prepares to see out the remainder of his five-year sentence under correctional supervision, Carte Blanche asks why his planned release in August was delayed, and what will be argued in the Appeal Court just two weeks from now. And for the first time, Reeva’s father Barry Steenkamp speaks about the ordeal that followed his daughter’s shocking death.

Richard to Amber
One of the worst sources of suffering for Amber Barrett has been for her to present herself as part of the male gender into which she was born. For 42 years she’s lived as a man and even represented South Africa in the international sporting arena, all the while also dealing with drug addictions, failed marriages and suicide attempts. Carte Blanche joins Barrett on a brave journey, one that has included hormonal treatments, chiseling of the Adam’s apple, realignment of the jaw and finally gender affirming surgery.
