On Friday, 29 February, SABC1’s Stars of Mzansi Awards were held at The State Theatre in Pretoria. The award show was set out to reward certain figures in the South African entertainment field. There were 10 voting categories- with the overall Stars of Mzansi Award-winner receiving R1-million (half of which is to be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice).

The voting categories were:

• Mzansi Star TV Presenter
• Mzansi Star Club DJ
• Mzansi Star Fashion Designer
• Mzansi Star Comedian
• Mzansi Star TV Show
• Mzansi Star Radio Show
• Mzansi Star Music
• Star of Mzansi

The winners for the 1st Annual Stars of Mzansi Awards were chosen by the viewing public, votes were cast either via SMS, telephone or by using the official website.

The winner of the Mzansi Star TV Presenter award went to Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu, while Zola 7 took home the award for Mzansi Star TV show and Ezase’kseni Breakfast Show (Ukhozi FM) won the award for Mzansi Star Radio Show.
