99.2 YFM has announced its new line up for 2008, which launches on Tuesday April 01.

With the new line up, YFM has given primetime slots to DJs who are significantly younger than their counterparts. This can also be seen across YFM’s programming schedule and behind the scenes, - in areas such as show producing, engineering and sales and marketing.

One of the station’s most significant projects, launched last year, is the Y Academy. This was an initiative that set out to formalise the process of talent identification and recruitment of young radio talent. The Y Academy is an intensive training program that exposes post tertiary candidates to all the key elements of radio broadcasting.

A critical outcome of the program is the skilled pool of fresh young talent who then make a meaningful contribution to the industry. The station is then able to select the training programme’s star performers and add them to its existing pool of talent. Four presenters and one news reporter in the new line up have been taken from this pool.
