The spectacular set with dramatic backdrops of New York and the Manhattan skyline has been shipped in from London, complete with the iconic lit dance floor and mirror ball!
The show that includes 30 of our country’s hottest young performers, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is the classic story of hope over tragedy with the electric combination of music and dance fusing in a blistering soundtrack and some of musical theatres most groundbreaking choreography ever.
In Brooklyn, Tony Manero is a humble paint store clerk by day but after dark he becomes the polyester-clad stallion of the local nightclub. Every Saturday night Tony slips into his flares, pulls on his huge-collared shirt and hits the streets to prove he can walk the walk, talk the talk and most definitely dance the moves. Each week he parts the dance floor like the red sea as the club falls under the spell of the thumping disco beat and Tony’s phenomenal routines. But as the club lights snap on at the end of the night and the real world returns, Tony and his disco obsessed friends must face the sometimes harsh truth of growing up in the tough urban jungle of New York.
DJ Monty arrives on stage to belt out Disco Inferno in a raspberry sequined suit that doesn't quite fit, a frilly leopard-print shirt, big medallion and a perm. It is a gruesomely addictive spectacle. There are many such exuberant moments in the show. The best-known Bee Gees songs are embellished here with slick, tight and impassioned dance routines. A thunderous Stayin' Alive makes an emphatic introduction to this glitter-ball world, Night Fever is hugely camp and You Should Be Dancin' closes with impressive funky panache.
Featuring 12 Top 10 disco classics, including Stayin’ Alive, Night Fever, How Deep is Your Love, You Should Be Dancing, If I Can’t Have You, Tragedy, Disco Inferno and Jive Talkin’, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER brings the mean streets of New York City to life in an explosion of hot-stepping, glitter-ball spinning action. Originally premiered at the London Palladium in 1998, this multi-million pound production has gone on to conquer Broadway and cities across the globe as the world remembers why it fell in love with SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.
Released in 1978, the film ‘SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER’ made Oscar-nominee John Travolta an instant Hollywood legend and inspired the now definitive disco soundtrack by The Bee Gees. The multi Grammy Award winning music behind the film, combined with it’s gripping storyline captured the imagination of millions, making SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER and its legendary collection of songs the iconic movie for a generation. It remains the best selling motion picture soundtrack of all time and songs from it regularly feature in Top Ten all-time lists.
