How has your life changed since winning The Hustle?
Life has become a lot more busy and a lot more hectic, in a good way though. I’m currently working on a body of work and just taking in as much information about the industry as possible.
What have been the highlights of your career thus far?
Definitely performing at Maftown Heights and meeting one of my all-time favourites, HHP. The travelling also allows me to witness our beautiful land and every trip serves as a highlight.
What is your favourite thing about the South African music scene?
The growth it has made over the past few years, especially in Hip-Hop. The South African music scene has taken great strides over the years, which has allowed space for more up and coming acts to make a name for themselves. The streets are more aware of what’s happening and have taken interest in local artist as well the corporate.
Who have you worked with so far? And who else would you like to work with?
Who I’ve worked with so far is still a secret, haha, but I‘d love to get into studio with The Muffins and Shekinah.
What can we expect from Bigstar in the future?
People can expect to hear a whole lot more music from Bigstar this year. A full body of work is in progress and a few other personal projects are in the pipeline outside of the music.
What advice do you have for young people hoping to crack the industry?
Be original, work on your craft as much as possible, be prepared to defend your dream always, even against those closest to you, and always do it for the right reasons.
