The online programme was inspired by the TAGCTWD® offline workshops, which have been striving to empower and change the lives of young women for 17 years. The online courses are packed with video content, downloadable resources and practical exercises.

The first course, titled 'Discovering your path', was launched in June to help students discover the career path that they feel is most suitable for them, depending on their personality, values and abilities. This course helps users develop professional skills and match certain careers that suit their individual strengths and interests. Titled 'Introduction to the working world', the second course is a logical follow-up. This course is all about introducing users to the workplace.

All TAGCTWD® online programme courses are open and free for everyone. Whether the user is in high school, at varsity, starting off as a young professional or even an entrepreneur, the course intends to be beneficial and empowering for anyone who makes use of it.

According to the brand, many practical workplace skills aren't taught in schools and at universities. That's why students need a trustworthy course, which can educate them on how to job hunt successfully and build their personal brand, among other essential skills.

The second course teaches students the basics through interactive exercises and engaging videos. Additionally, they receive a certificate upon successful completion, which they can add as an achievement on their CV.

Cell C says that young professionals are often given confusing and sometimes outdated advice on what working life is really like. The second course includes advice from two knowledgeable women — Juliet Mhango (chief human capital officer at Cell C) and Cikizwa Nekile (founder of Indima Recruitment) — that junior professionals can rely on as they advance on their professional journey.

Existing and aspiring business owners can also benefit from the insights into the new course. The course covers various skills that are crucial for entrepreneurs, including how to build a personal brand and network effectively.

The course consists of five sections — each of which takes around 40 minutes to complete. The sections include:
  1. Introduction to the working world
  2. Applying for work
  3. Interview skills
  4. Professional growth
  5. Networking (Online and Offline)
During the course, users receive useful breakdowns of the most important aspects every professional should know, as well as exercises to help them apply what they've learned. By the end of the course — which concludes with a multiple choice quiz — they'll know how to be hireable in a rapidly changing world.

The courses in the programme are free for everyone, but for users who have a Cell C SIM card, the data to access the programme is zero-rated. The aim of Cell C's Take a Girl Child to Work Day Programme® is not only to inspire girls to dream big but also to empower them with the tools they need to realistically achieve their goals.
