The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA) is the umbrella organisation linking PR professional associations worldwide. With the mission to enhance the public relations profession and its practitioners throughout the world, the GA was founded in 2000 in Chicago by 25 national and international bodies and is incorporated under U.K. laws. It is a not-for-profit entity with its general secretariat hosted at the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland. Today, the GA comprises 77 national PR associations representing 160 000 professionals around the world. By providing a forum to share ideas and best practice, identify common interests and develop global standards, the GA aims to create a better understanding of the unique aspects of each culture in which practitioners operate. It offers access to information regarding industry news, regional or international conferences and seminars, case studies, and benchmarking research. The GA serves as a vehicle for examining and developing global standards on ethics, universal accreditation options, curriculum, and body of knowledge.
